A man had diesel poured over him in Pulrose early on Friday evening.
It happened in the garden of a property on Springfield Avenue at around 5pm.
Police say the man wasn't seriously injured, but was taken to hospital.
A suspect was arrested nearby and detained in custody.
Those involved were known to each other and there was no threat to the safety of the community in general.
