MUA wants to replace Victorian facility in Ramsey
The Manx Utilities Authority has applied for permission to replace a Victorian pumping station in Ramsey.
In a planning application, the MUA says the Vollan Pump Station on Mooragh Promenade is at the end of its lifespan – it was built in 1889 and last refurbished 30 years ago.
And according to the MUA, replacing the structure would mean the end of untreated sewage being pumped into the sea off the coast of Ramsey.
