Stocks checked by the government
It's the start of an important period for the Island's queenie fishermen.
Over the next week, they can't go out and catch the shellfish, while checks on the stocks are carried out.
Depending on how the queenies are doing, the fishing quotas for them will then be adjusted accordingly for the remainder of the season.
Director of Fisheries Karen McHarg says there is a balance to be struck, and it isn't easy:
