MHKs amendment rejected
A body which represents charities in the Isle of Man says it welcomes plans to update relevant legislation overall, but has concerns about an attempt to alter it.
Ramsey member Lawrie Hooper's amendment to the Charities Registration and Regulation Bill was backed by his fellow MHKs, but has been rejected by the Legislative Council; from where, unusually, the bill has originated.
It would have made bodies with an annual turnover of less than £5,000 exempt from most of the registration requirements, but not the regulations.
Seemingly undeterred, Mr Hooper has said he feels the House of Keys should be making policy.
