An Onchan MHK wants local residents to protest at a plan to introduce traffic in both directions on what is currently a one-way road.
The proposal involves the stretch of the Groudle Road from the entrance to the King Edward Bay Golf Club to the junction with the main coast road.
David Quirk (pictured) fears the change, which is being suggested by the Department of Transport, could create unnecessary dangers.
He told Manx Radio why he thought the idea had been put forward:
"It may be because there is a developer close by there who is wanting stuff to change and I'm trying to tease out of the local authority, Onchan Commissioners, their part or role in it.
"To that extent I've written to the clerk and asked him several questions on it.
"There's a group that has been established and the petition is running now to 55 names (and) over a hundred letters have gone out to residents in the area asking them for their views, because they are the ones it's going to impact on, if these changes were to take place."
