The local branch of Amnesty International is celebrating the release of Aung San Suu Kyi in Burma at the weekend, and is encouraging participation in an annual campaign.
Every year the human rights organisation invites people all over the world to send personal Christmas greetings to prisoners of conscience.
Amnesty says receiving anything from the outside world can make a big difference to men and women being held in often very difficult circumstances.
Individuals and organisations in the Isle of Man have taken part in the initiative, and are being offered the chance to do so again.
Local spokesman Stuart Hartill says Island residents started designing their own cards a few years ago, with surprising results (play audio file):
Any group or individuals who would like to get involved in the Christmas card campaign can contact Stuart Hartill on his home phone number, 814496, after 6pm.
