A Ramsey Commissioner says an incident of asbestos 'contamination' in a skip at the Northern Civic Amenity Site was taken 'seriously'.

Deputy Chair Sandra Cottam-Shea says there are 'low staffing levels' at the NCAS and it has had to reduce its operations, including not taking commercial waste for the time being.

The site was closed due to the material being left in a rubble skip - which was taken out of action and dealt with by a specialist.

Mrs Cottam-Shea believes that 'contamination' and residents not disposing of waste properly is a 'real concern', especially for the staff.
