DoI says it's worth the £100,000
The Department of Infrastructure says replacing Ramsey's two lighthouses won't be a 'quick or cheap' fix - but investing now will secure them for a century.
The 'pepperpot' structures, which are in a state of disrepair, are being torn down and rebuilt almost entirely over the next six months.
It's set to cost the taxpayer £100,000.
But Tim Cowin from the DoI says it's a justifiable expense:
