A young man from Ramsey has been given the opportunity to work within a community in Egypt, as part of an exchange scheme with 18 other youngsters, organised by volunteer charities and the British Council.
John Dean, who is 22, will spend three months there, and three months in Luton with his exchange 'partner'.
He has travelled overseas before, having volunteered as an English teacher in India in 2006, where he helped raise money to build a new school.
At present he is working with the Island's One World Centre on issues like Fairtrade, and thinks that understanding our global neighbours better is the way forward (audio file attached):
If you would like to help, you can call John on 434577, and there is more information online at vso.org.uk/globalxchange
