Ramsey man in court for knife incident

Row escalated with former friend

A Ramsey man’s appeared in court after an ongoing row with a former friend escalated into an incident involving a knife.

Thirty-nine-year-old William Wesley Bolton of Pairk Ollay appeared before High Bailiff Jayne Hughes at Douglas Courthouse.

He'd previously pleaded guilty to one count each of using provoking behaviour and carrying a knife.

Prosecution advocate Hazell Carroon said the charges related to an incident involving a former friend.

The court heard the incident happened on the doorstep of Bolton’s home on 6 July when he got into an argument with his former friend.

Defence advocate Leonie Cooil told the hearing the incident escalated until Bolton pulled a knife, which she said hadn't been used to threaten anybody but had been thrown away when a neighbour told him to.

Bolton was put on probation for a year, and also can't buy or be sold alcohol for six months.

Mrs Hughes also ordered him to pay £125 towards prosecution costs.
