An intrepid Manx man has recently returned from a potentially hazardous visit to Chernobyl - the Ukrainian city uninhabited for 22 years following the worst nuclear power plant disaster in history.
Ramsey man Juan McGuiness was taken around in a group and shown, along with other things, an abandoned School and fairground.
The radiation levels are such now that it is relatively safe as long as you are there no longer than eight hours, and stay clear of the restricted zones.
Juan says it was an experience of a lifetime:

Warning over flare disposal after amenity site fire
Suspended sentence for 56-year-old in cannabis supply case
Owner of a block of flats fined for failing to meet fire safety regulations
Review of taxi fares extended to assess impact of Middle East conflict
