Unanimous decision by board
The Ramsey town rate for the 2017-2018 financial year has been held at 348p in the pound.
The decision was made at a meeting held by Ramsey Town Commissioners this week when the rate was proposed by lead member for finance and general Purposes Juan McGuinness.
It was seconded by chairman Andy Cowie, and approved unanimously by the board.
Mr Cowie congratulated Mr McGuinness, members and officers for setting a budget for the forthcoming year which avoided any increase in the rate.
It's the fourth consecutive year that the rates have been held at the same level.
Mr Cowie calls this "an outstanding achievement" against the background of mounting financial pressures on local authorities coupled with economic uncertainty at home and abroad.
