Evocative symbol of remembrance
The town of Ramsey has received two of the 888,000 thousand ceramic poppies used in the 'Sea of Red' and 'Blood Swept Lands' installations.
Designed by ceramicist Paul Cummins the pottery flowers were laid at the Tower of London in 2014 to mark the 100th anniversary of the outbreak of the First World War.
The two poppies donated to Ramsey Commissioners, came from former chairman Richard Radcliffe and his wife, and by the family of George E Perry, who lost his life on the HMS Ramsey in 1915.
Each was given in memory of relatives who died during the First World War and installed in the foyer of Ramsey town hall.
Commissioner's chairman Andy Cowie says the poppies are 'deeply evocative' works of art, which remind all of the sacrifice made by so many.
