Two candidates vying for a seat on the board of Ramsey commissioners both believe local authorities should be given more powers.
The vacancy in the town's South Ward has arisen following Leonard Singer's election to the House of Keys, and the two candidates are IT consultant Steve Bevan and retailer Stephen Rand.
They say commissioners throughout the Island need more responsibility, and planning would be a good place to start:
