Women 'should be given choice'
A local woman who fell pregnant through rape has hit back at comments by 'pro-life' campaigners.
Deborah McCann says the views expressed by Life Isle of Man that anyone who has experienced rape shouldn't be given abortions are 'archaic'.
Malcolm Newton appeared on Mandate yesterday as a public consultation on reforming Manx abortion laws drew to a close.
Under the current legislation, women affected by rape are entitled to a termination only if they report the crime to the authorities.
But Deborah, who was attacked at knife point aged 17, and later underwent an abortion, says there should be no caveat:
