Bride Commissioners hosting 'open session'
Ratepayers in Bride are being invited to discuss the Northern Civic Amenity Site today (28 June).
The local authority is holding an open session in Bride Church Hall between 1pm and 3pm.
Commissioners will be available to answer queries about the current arrangements.
Earlier this year Bride Parish Commissioners expressed frustration at the contributions required to fund the future operation of the NCAS.
The Department of Infrastructure wrote to local authorities setting out the projected annual operating cost of £725,000.
It wanted Bride to pay £111,020 from March 2026 - up from £91,879.
In a response the local authority wrote: “Bride residents will be paying one hundred and eleven thousand pounds for about forty people to take a bag of twigs to the tip once a week.
“One hundred and eleven thousand pounds is a huge proportion of total income for Bride Parish. Little left to cover all the other services provided.”
