
A former Home Affairs Minister would like to see the introduction of a real-time CCTV network throughout the Isle of Man.
Phil Braidwood, MHK, says the TETRA system used by the emergency services and their Joint Control Room could be adapted to accommodate transmissions from the cameras.
He feels there is a pressing need for such a system, but Rushen MHK Quintin Gill is dead against an all-Island CCTV setup.
He says the technology should only be used where it's truly needed, and to do otherwise would create a society of suspects (audio file attached):
