Lower salaries and overheads are the main reasons Gibraltar employs five times more people in e-gaming than the Island.
That's according to Economic Development Minister John Shimmin.
He was answering a written Tynwald question from Onchan MHK Zac Hall.
Mr Shimmin says Gibraltar also has a lower demand for government-provided infrastructure.
Around 750 people work in our e-gaming sector, compared to some 4,000 in Gibraltar which has a population just a third the size of the Island
Despite that, the contribution e-gaming makes to the Island's GDP is currently around £274 million, compared to £200 million in Gibraltar.
