Health chiefs have moved to reassure northern residents that a reduction in the opening hours of Ramsey Cottage Hospital’s minor injuries unit is only temporary.
From Monday, the unit has closed close two hours early at 8 o’clock each evening due to staff shortages.
There are currently no additional qualified nurses available to the hospital.
However, Director of Health Strategy and Performance with the DHSS, Norman McGregor Edwards (pictured), says the reduction will only be in place for up to a month: (first audio clip)
Meanwhile, the chairman of the League of Friends of Ramsey Cottage Hospital, Leonard Singer (pictured, right), says while disappointed, he accepts there is little alternative: (second audio clip)
