Merchants Place would see Newson store replaced
Redevelopment plans for a number of buildings along North Quay in Douglas, including the former Newson store, have been unveiled.
They've been submitted by Manx owned business Kelman Ltd and propose a new waterfront development.
Merchants Place, as it would be known, is described as a modern development that honours local heritage while rejuvenating the Brownfield site.
Three ground-floor bar and restaurant units would be created along with external seating for the summer months.
On the upper floors 10 environmentally sensitive apartments, overlooking the marina, would be built – the external facades would be finished in Manx stone.
Subject to planning consent construction work could start later this year with completion by mid-2024.
