Move follows drug conviction for camping company's founder
The official TT travel partner says it won’t renew a contract with a UK camping company whose founder has been jailed for dealing drugs.
This week, 22 year old Jacob Hill of the Lazy Camper was jailed for 28 months in the UK after admitting possession of class A drugs with intent to supply at last year’s Leeds Festival.
Leeds Crown Court heard police found nine bags of ecstasy and 14 bags of cannabis when they arrested Hill.
In court, his barrister said Hill would continue to run the business – which had provided camping gear and tents to Peel and Foxdale football clubs.
Today, in a statement, Regency Travel confirmed it hasn’t contracted any services from the Lazy Camper for next year’s TT festival.
Previously, it had partnered with the Yorkshire-based firm to provide tents and equipment at Island campsites.
But Regency, which runs iomttbreaks.com, says it’s looking into third party tented accommodation facilities for TT 2016.
But it adds no tented accommodation provided by Lazy Camper will be available for booking through its website.
