Patrick schoolroom to host new visitor centre
The first stage in an ambitious project to reinvent the site of the largest internment camp of the first World War begins next week.
Patrick Schoolrooms are being developed into an on-site visitor centre and web-based archive for the historic site at Knockaloe, where 23,000 thousand foreign 'aliens' were kept.
It's only one component of a project by the Knockaloe Charity, who eventually want to re-create elements of the camp, and design a full visitor experience.
Tomorrow (Sat 9) morning from 10am, items such as crockery and chairs from the schoolrooms are being sold to make way for builders - who start work on Monday.
