Standard practice not followed
A Laxey resident says the planning process being used to replace the old Laxey bridge wouldn't be acceptable in the private sector.
Patricia Newton - a town planner herself - says public consultation was originally with just a few selected groups and the commissioners and there wasn't a proper consultation for everyone until she asked about it.
Miss Newton points out that the planning application is for a "new" bridge - not a replacement one - and it's normal practice when you cause a structure to be demolished and replaced in a conservation area, that you have to apply for its demolition.
