The proposed use of Turkeylands for bottom ash will be among the items up for debate at 'Ballasalla 2009' this evening.
That’s the title of a public meeting in the village hall which has been organised by the Ballasalla District and Residents Association.
The Council of Ministers recently gave planning approval for a processing facility for bottom ash at Old Turkeyland Quarry, Balthane, and for the storage and disposal of processed bottom ash at New Turkeyland Quarry.
Association committee member Eddie Power says, as far as the Turkeyland issue is concerned, local residents aren't happy (play attached audio file):
The meeting starts at 7.30pm and other topics down for discussion include the possibility of a Ballasalla by-pass, the village plan and the proposed Douglas Road roundabout.
