Measures include more doctors on duty and extra nursing staff
Health chiefs have unveiled a series of measures designed to reduce accident and emergency waiting times at Noble's Hospital.
They include more senior doctors on duty, the recruitment of extra nursing staff and the employment of a specific GP in A&E during weekdays to deal with acute matters.
Health and Social Care Minister Kate Beecroft told Tynwald this week she's confident the appointments will lead to a reduction of waiting tmes and strengthen the hospital workforce.
Douglas MHKs David Ashford and Bill Malarkey said education also proved a factor with some patients using A&E as a first port of call instead of contacting their doctor.
Mr Malarkey said this could be down to frustration with a backlog in GP appointments and called for those who fail to attend appointments to be fined.
