Initial lease currently being negotiated
The group behind a bid to renovate Ramsey's Queen's Pier says it would be prepared to buy the Victorian structure.
Local businessmen heading the Queen's Pier Restoration Trust are currently negotiating a three-year lease with the Manx government.
This is seen as the most practical way of getting the work started.
Spokesman Tom Durrant says the availability of larch wood, felled to stop the outbreak of disease in the Island's plantations, is ideally suited for seaside conditions.
The group is planning an appeal to fund work on the first 50 yards of the pier.
Mr Durrant says originally an offer was made to Infrastructure Minister Phil Gawne to buy the pier:
