Policy reversal call to be put to Tynwald
A new MHK says some pensioners around the Island have struggled financially since free television licences were scrapped.
From last month, Islanders aged 75 and over have had to pay for their licences, apart from those who receive income support.
North Douglas member David Ashford is calling for the free licence to be restored with immediate effect and for refunds to be made to those pensioners who have been charged since September the first.
Ahead of a motion in Tynwald next week, Mr Ashford feels many of his colleagues will support the move.
