Staff who have worked at Victoria Road prison will be at a reunion today, just weeks before the expected closing down of the Victorian gaol.
The get-together, a buffet lunch, will be hosted by the new prison governor, Alison Gomme and her Deputy Colin Ring at the prison this lunchtime.
The jail was opened in 1891. At the time is was a massive improvement on the previous jail in Castle Rushen.
After prisoners leave Victoria Road to go to the new jail in Jurby, the idea of regular public tours is being considered.
