Edge motions commit ministers to change
Government's whistleblowing policy is being urgently reviewed.
That's been confirmed by the Cabinet Office after a series of motions, tabled by Onchan MHK Julie Edge, passed with amendments in Tynwald this month.
They commit ministers to come forward in the next year with a new statutory framework, which encourages raising public interest concerns.
It must also include protections and support for those who speak out, as well as monitoring and penalties for non-compliance.
In the meantime, the Tynwald Auditor General is to provide independent oversight of whistleblowing processes, including making sure concerns are investigated.
Ms Edge says the experiences of those involved makes it clear change is needed:
Smile of Mann programme to start in primary schools next year
Loganair passengers yet to be reunited with bags left in Manchester on Sunday
Kirk Michael man taking on 31 marathons in 31 days in memory of friend
Government grant partially funded fishing vessel later used for smuggling
CRHS plans are progressing, insists education minister
