Closure in place this evening
Richmond Hill will be closed to traffic for several hours this evening.
The closure from 6.30pm to 11pm is to allow for the removal of the cones which have been blocking access to the overtaking lane.
The Department of Infrastructure says an inspection by an independent specialist last week found that the shedding issue had considerably reduced and that warmer weather had resulted in the surface becoming more stable.
The 30 mph speed limit will remain in place and unmarked police vehicles will patrol the area once the road has reopened.
The DoI says the condition of the road will continue to be monitored with a view to increasing the speed limit, depending on how the surface responds.
