Investigation launched
Organisers have confirmed James Cowton died and three other riders were injured in an incident in Thursday's racing at the 2018 Southern 100.
Ivan Lintin has been taken to hospital in Liverpool for treatment and is in a critical condition, while Jamie Coward and Manx rider Michael Evans also sustained injuries.
The incident occurred at the Stadium Bends section of the course, and the day's racing was abandoned shortly before 5pm after the magnitude of the incident became known.
A full investigation will now be carried out in conjunction with the Isle of Man Constabulary to ascertain what happened during the Hunts Motorcycles 600cc Challenge Race.
Southern 100 Racing has extended its sincere condolences to the family, relatives and friends of Driffield rider Cowton at this sad time.
