Ratepayers in some parts of the Isle of Man will start to feel the pinch, now Tynwald has approved a near-trebling of domestic waste disposal charges.
A number of local authorities have cited the steep hike as the reason for increased rates for the coming year.
The rise, along with the removal of a 90% subsidy on the charges, was approved by Tynwald yesterday, following an hour-long debate.
Prior to the vote, Minister for Local Government and the Environment John Shimmin said he believed the move was a fair one:
