Identity thieves target bereaved families
Residents are being warned of a scam targeting those who've suffered from bereavement.
Police say they're aware of several incidents of people being contacted after losing a loved one - with the perpetrator requesting a copy of the death certificate.
It's said to be a 'very plausible' method of deception, which can be used to aid identity theft.
Officers say people need to avoid giving away personal information, and, when in doubt, call back after checking the company's legitimacy.
