Emergency services have been dealing with a road accident near the Nunnery, on the Old Castletown Road.
A car and a motorcycle were involved, but no further information is available about what happened.
The southbound carriageway has reopened in the past few minutes (6.05pm), and police say they will get the northbound lane open to traffic as soon as possible.
Motorists have been advised to take an alternative route.
