Road changes and closures coming into force

Road racing calendar starts this evening

Road closures and changes are already coming into force ahead of the 2023 TT Races starting next week.

Work is currently being carried out to make the Mountain Road one way from Ramsey Hairpin to the Creg-ny-Baa - that system will remain in place until Tuesday 13 June.

Once the one-way system is in place, cycling will be prohibited on the Mountain Road until 9.30am on Friday 26 June - anyone found cycling on the route during the restriction period could face arrest.

The first road racing action takes place at the Pre-TT Classic this evening, with roads around the Billown Course closing at 6.05pm and reopening by 9pm.

Racing at Billown continues over the weekend, with closures in place between 12.30pm and 4.30pm tomorrow, plus 6pm to 9pm, and between 1pm and 6pm on Sunday.

The first TT practice gets underway on Monday 29 May - on that day the Mountain Road will begin closing at 8.45am from Barrule Park in Ramsey, with the Bungalow section shutting from 9am, while the rest of the TT Course will be closed from 10am, reopening no later than 9.30pm.

Practice sessions being held on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday next week will then be held in the evenings - on those three days the Mountain Road will close from 4.45pm, with the rest of the Mountain Course closed from 6pm until no later than 9.30pm.

On the final practice day, Friday 2 June, closures around the course will be during the day, with highways cordoned off from 12.30pm until 4.30pm at the latest.

After each session the Mountain Road will remain close for up to an hour after the rest of the TT Course reopens to allow the one-way system to be reinstated.

There is also a contingency practice on the Friday if required - should that be needed the course will be shut from 6pm until 9.30pm.
