A Methodist minister in Douglas is questioning the motives behind a government bill, which would allow public roads to be closed on Sundays throughout the year.
The Road Races Amendment Bill goes to the Keys for its second reading today (Tuesday).
It's been drawn up to allow for cycle racing during the Commonwealth Youth Games in September, as current legislation only permits road closures for motorbike events.
However, Reverend David Shirtliff says the scope of the bill is far too wide:

One in eight drinking above recommended weekly alcohol limit
Renal patients 'near breaking point' over lack of dialysis facilities in the north
Public Health to expand 'stop nicotine' services and accept referrals from children
