£3.4million project due to be completed by TT 2022
UPDATE: The Department of Infrastructure has delayed today's closure of Pulrose Road until tomorrow (7 April).
Pulrose Road will close later this morning as work gets underway on a multi-million pound replacement for Pulrose Bridge.
The route is due to close at 9.30am, and will remain shut while the £3.4m structure is built.
Work is able to begin today following changes to restrictions on outdoor construction.
The Department of Infrastructure says the project will reduce the risk of flooding in the area, and is due to be completed by TT 2022.
New entrances will be created for the Bowl car park and the Riverside Trading Estate, while diversions will be put in place on Peel Road and Groves Road.
Nearby, Quarterbridge Road remains one way heading north while works continue there, but the DoI says the impact on traffic diverted due to the Pulrose Bridge scheme will be minimal.
Pedestrian access will continue, while bus routes are being diverted, with full details of the route changes on the Bus Vannin website.
Contractors Paul Carey & Sons will be following additional Covid-19 protocols.
