Alder Hey family house team visits Island
A space for families to rest their heads whilst children are receiving treatment at Alder Hey has been described as 'a real sanctuary'.
Emily Cattle stayed at Ronald McDonald House whilst her daughter Catherine received open cardiac surgery at just four weeks old.
She says it was very helpful to be able to stay so close to her child during a difficult time.
Representatives from the House, a registered charity, were on the Isle of Man recently to discuss future fundraising projects and raise awareness of what the space can offer.
Amongst those on the Island was director Wendy Carson, who says for many, the nearby accommodation is essential:
"When you're delivering healthcare on an island, your costs are going to be higher"
