Unsustainable strains on system
The President of Tynwald made a ruling regarding Tynwald Questions at the beginning of today's sitting.
Claire Christian said she was speaking in the light of representations about strains being placed on civil servants by unreasonable use of the question system and following discussions with the Speaker of the Keys.
She told the court that the use of the question system is an integral part of the duties of members, who have a right to access information via the system.
But she says asking too many questions in too much detail can remove public servants from their main occupation and impose unsustainable strains on the public service.
