Retired police officer comes to Bebe's aid
A runaway Dachshund is counting his lucky stars after being rescued from a flooded quarry.
Owner Melanie Kermeen had been feeding her chickens when her dogs Bebe and Lulu disappeared.
Lulu arrived home the next morning with dust on her paws - which led rescuers to a nearby disused quarry where Bebe was spotted, trapped on a ledge.
Retired police officer, and experienced open water swimmer, Juan Kinley entered the water to go to Bebe's aid as Melanie explains:
Watch the moment Bebe was recued below.
MINI DACHSHUNDS HOME SAFE !! ππ Bebe rescued from ledge above quarry by retired Detective Chief Inspector & Ironman Juan Kinley π Thank you to everyone who came out to search for the mini sausage dogs yesterday, last night & this morning π we are so very grateful Thank you to fire crew & coast guard & man with kayak who were all about to come to assist when Bebe decided she was going to make a swim for it herself, and so pre-empted a rescue swim. Thank you to FB lost & found pets IOM Avril & Karen for help & advice last night too. Pup Lulu returned home safe & squealing at 5.15am. Lots of small footprints lead us to Bebe this morning, stuck on a precarious ledge. 2 miniature dachshunds Bebe & Lulu are now fast asleep in their bed by the aga. Thank God for keeping them safe for last 26 hours. π
