The huge project to build a runway promontory out to sea at Isle of Man Airport is on target for completion by December.
Despite the long spell of good weather, the work is largely dependent on sea conditions being suitable for the unloading of huge boulders from transport barges and, at times, the swell has been too great for that to happen.
But with contractors on site working where they can for 20 hours or more per day, the job is on time.
Adding increased safety areas at the coastal end of the runway involves constructing a massive eleven-metre deep 'infil' between the airfield and the beach.
Airport Director Ann Reynolds says, when complete, the extension will offer great improvements in both safety and efficiency:
