Former chairman and minister at loggerheads over removal
The former chairman of Isle of Man Post Office says he was sacked for questioning plans to corporatise the organisation.
Graham Cregeen was removed from the Post Office board by the Council of Ministers yesterday.
Eddie Teare, speaking for CoMin, said Mr Cregeen had failed in his duty to uphold corporate governance - by undermining a policy the majority of the board had agreed.
Proposals to turn the current post office structure - a statutory board - into a limited company, are due before Tynwald in April.
Mr Cregeen says he made his concerns about the move clear, and was seeking clarity when he was sacked.
Eddie Teare however, says Mr Cregeen's flouting of 'clear rules' over board leadership led to his removal.
And he says that could have led to an important public service becoming 'paralysed' and 'dysfunctional'.
