The Isle of Man's Deputy Chief Fire Officer says the force's main strategy is the safety of Island residents.
But Kevin Groom says this is as much about fire prevention and education as fire fighting.
Mr Groom (pictured) was speaking after a recent incident in Port Erin, in which fire services had to deal with an explosion at a house which demolished the building and caused considerable collateral damage.
On Talking Heads he told John Hines the underlying key strategies were prevention, protection and response:

Warning over flare disposal after amenity site fire
Suspended sentence for 56-year-old in cannabis supply case
Owner of a block of flats fined for failing to meet fire safety regulations
Review of taxi fares extended to assess impact of Middle East conflict
