The salary of the Isle of Man's top civil servant could be substantially increased, if the post is re-evaluated.
That's the view of chairman of the Civil Service Commission John Houghton MHK in response to criticism the chief secretary's role hasn't been reviewed, despite a promise that would happen to senior positions when they become vacant.
Will Greenhow was this week appointed to succeed Mary Williams in the top job, which comes with a salary range between £110,000 and £137,000.
Backbench MHK Peter Karran says a re-evaluation might have seen the salary frozen or even reduced, but Mr Houghton believes quite the reverse is the case:
