Deluge of offers to help stranded TT visitors
The Island's head of tourism has thanked the Manx public for showing its community spirit, helping to provide accommodation for stranded ferry passengers.
Angela Byrne from the Department of Economic Development says contingency plans for travel disruption swung into action after Tuesday night's ferry crossing (6 June) to Heysham was cancelled, leaving more 540 people searching for a place to stay.
The Steam Packet Company, Welcome Centre and DED staff were on hand to assist passengers rebook travel and find temporary accommodation across the Island.
Ms Byrne says those offering beds to the stranded passengers helped 'turn a negative into a positive':
