A local organisation is looking for people with exceptional listening skills.
The Samaritans provides 24 hour support for the Isle of Man, but more volunteers are urgently needed.
There are currently 65 members who are fully trained to deal with the wide range of problems callers may have.
The emphasis is on confidentiality, and those who phone for help are reassured nothing they say will be repeated.
There is an open evening at St Andrew's Church Hall in Douglas this evening (from 7.30) for anyone who may be interested in getting involved.
