Laxey girl bags lead part
Local actress Samantha Barks has scooped the leading role in a new Broadway show.
The 26 year-old from Laxey will play Vivian - a character made famous by Julia Roberts - in the musical adaptation of Pretty Woman from next Autumn.
Samantha, who shot to fame on Andrew Lloyd-Webber's 2008 television programme I'd Do Anything, is described as a 'gorgeous triple-theat' by show producer Paula Wagner.
She'll starr alongside Tony award winner Steve Kazee, with original music from rockstar Bryan Adams.
