Pretending to be relatives via messenger services
Police are warning people to be vigilant against a new cyber scam which is targeting the older generation.
In the last week officers have had six reports of scammers contacting people via messenger services asking for cash.
Inspector Gavin Callow is urging the public to make their relatives, and friends, aware of this scam – and educate them about cyber crime.
He says no-one should send money virtually unless they are 100 per cent sure of where it is going:
