GCSEs and A-Levels set to change
Significant changes to GCSEs and A-Levels is the reason the Island's high schools will close for an extra day this summer.
Secondary schools across the Island will switch from the English GCSE to the IGCSE in the next academic year, with simultaneous changes to A-Levels.
All five Manx high schools will now open a day later than planned, on Thursday September 10.
Co-ordinating Advisor for 11-19 Education Paul Craine says teaching staff need the additional day to help cope with the changes:

Overnight sailings cancelled due to adverse weather
Rapist who 'terrorised' his victim told his sentence was 'entirely justified'
Complaints process for health system changed
Discovery of oiled birds 'makes a mockery of our biosphere status'
Charges now in place for those sending parcels to the EU
