The construction of the new St Ninian's Lower School at Bemahague in Onchan has moved a step closer, after Tynwald approved expenditure of up to £433,000 on the first stage of the project.
The new school would cost in the region of £33 million and would have room for 800 pupils.
Education Minister Anne Craine (pictured) hopes to bring the main scheme to Tynwald before the 2009 summer recess.
She says the current phase involves enabling works:
